The street where I live...

I love the rain. My favourite time to take flower shots is right after a downpour, preferably when there's still some drizzle coming down to keep the beads of rain fresh on the petals for me to photograph. Luckily for me all I have to do is open my front door and step out onto the street and I'm surrounded by the most gorgeous flowers just begging for me to capture them on film.

Yesterday afternoon I wandered around my street and photographed what I could. I love the above shot of the hibiscus for the way that you can see the beads of water on the petals, even from underneath. But I would have to say that this little plant with the water droplets perched so delicately on it's leaf was my favourite ~ it seemed to be reaching out for me to admire it.

And then there was this little guy ~ a little tuft of fluff off a gum tree that after editing looks like a strange alien lifeform or underwater plant:

So here I am

This is my very first blog and I've started it based on my love of photography, particularly macro photography. I took the above photo while I was out for a walk with my son and love the ethereal look of the dandelion fluff and the way you can look deep into the core of the flower.

I shoot with a Nikon D3000 and am yet to even get more than just the standard kit lens however I'm saving up for a macro lens for my baby.

This blog will be a way for me to keep track of my photography, see how I have grown as a photographer and hopefully give me some inspiration and more reason to keep searching for that elusive, perfect photo.
